FAQs
How do your publishing contracts work?
We believe in transparency in our processes and contracts. We also believe in taking care of authors. While we aren’t able to pay cash advances for works we publish, we do offer a 50/50 royalty split on net revenue from sales, which is on the upper end of any deal you will find.
We consider our arrangements partnerships. When you sign a contract with Iron Gall Media, it means we will publish your book to reach the widest audience we are capable of providing. We aren’t a Big 5 publisher, but we’re determined and always learning the latest tools available. Authors will also receive periodic marketing white papers produced by us at no cost that are targeted toward selling books. The reason should be obvious: we want you to sell more books as it helps us both!
What kinds of works do you publish?
Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror are at the center of Iron Gall Media. However, we read all kinds of genres and aren’t above publishing a great Mystery/Thriller, Literary Fiction, or Christian Romance. However, keep in mind that when it comes to romance we only publish closed-door romance novels.
Looking to the future, we are also interested in publishing the right non-fiction works. Business, leadership, Christian works, memoirs, and more. If you have something of interest, please send a query to IronGallMediaGroup[at]gmail.com along with the first three chapters.
Why did you start a publishing company?
We believe in helping good writers find an audience for their work. In today’s publishing landscape there are a lot of options for getting your book out there. The process of traditionally publishing (and finding a good agent) with a Big 5 publisher is long, arduous, and often ends up in heartbreak. Still, for some people this is the best option and they are willing to wait for the possibility of it working out. Another option is to go it alone with self-publishing. This can be a great option if you have the time and acumen to learn editing, formatting, graphic design, and the ins and outs of book marketing. There are a lot of resources online to help with this and we’re more than willing to provide some insight if this is where your path leads.
Some writers want to focus on writing as much as possible and don’t have the money to outsource. Building an author platform is necessary whether you’re self-published, indie published, or published by one of the big guys. When Iron Gall Media publishes your book, it means that you have someone in your corner helping you and taking part of the burden off of you. We want you to succeed and believe in helping authors find success in writing. Being a small press means we can give you more attention than you would receive elsewhere. We want our authors to be their own community, helping lift each other up in a sea of competition.
That said, if you decide to self-publish, check out our services tab for ways we can help you make the most out of your book.
In short, we started Iron Gall Media to help authors find their people and do more of what they love. We want to make it easier for you to achieve your dream of becoming an author.
